Little Chief, a Northern Cheyenne warrior in 1876, fought under Chief Lame White Man in the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Fishing upstream from the Indian village, Little Chief, White Shield, and other Cheyenne, and his nephew Dives Backward, were among the first to see the approach of enemy soldiers.
